BIOGRAPHY
Hello!
I'm an East Coast girl who grew up in Prince Edward Island and moved to Whitehorse after completing my Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Psychology, in 2018. Before pursuing my Psychology degree, I attended Holland College in PEI and obtained a Human Services Diploma, which enabled me to work with individuals of diverse abilities and disabilities and their families. I have completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I am excited to bring all my skills and knowledge to the Ignite Counselling & Psychology clients and team.
Choosing a counsellor can feel overwhelming and daunting for you or a loved one. My priority is to ensure you feel comfortable, and I will do everything possible to build a supportive, professional, therapeutic relationship.
If you're facing challenges in your relationship—whether related to sex, intimacy, finances, parenting, or communication—I'm here to help you navigate these tough times and strengthen your connection.
If your child or teen struggles at school, socially, academically, or emotionally, and could benefit from support outside the family, I can offer a caring and understanding presence to help them through those difficult moments.
For those diagnosed with or curious about Autism or other aspects of neurodiversity, I bring extensive experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and learning disabilities. While I can't diagnose, I can provide tailored strategies to enhance strengths, improve communication, and boost daily functioning.
If you're grappling with anxiety and depression and feeling out of sorts, I can help you discover effective strategies and tools to navigate your daily life. Creating healthy boundaries, prioritizing self-care and nurturing self-worth are essential to our journey together. Whether you need guidance, resources, or someone to listen and support you, I'm here to assist you every step of the way.
These are just a few areas I focus on in my professional practice. If you feel that I could be someone who can support you, please reach out through my email at arika@ignitecounselling.ca or through our online intake form.
I look forward to meeting you!
